About the banner image: FOXP2 and DNA

This is a detail from the crystal structure of the forkhead domain of human FOXP2 (the green and pink coils) bound to a strand of DNA (the balls and sticks). FOXP2 is a transcription factor that is involved in the development of cognitive function, oro-facial motor skills and language processing.

The image was rendered in MBT SimpleViewer from the structure’s PDB entry (2A07).
